Education*: Complete a CFP Board-registered education program, covering financial planning topics. You'll also need a bachelor's degree from an accredited university, which can be completed within five years after passing the CFP exam.
- *Examination*: Pass the CFP exam, a 170-question, multiple-choice test that assesses your financial planning knowledge and application skills.
- *Experience*: Gain relevant professional experience, either 6,000 hours of professional experience or 4,000 hours of apprenticeship experience, within ten years before or five years after passing the exam.
- *Ethics*: Agree to adhere to the CFP Board's Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, and undergo a background check.
